ben kacos

Sometimes it’s as simple as a pizza.

His “example setters” must be proud, because (their grandson/son) Dr. Ben Kacos is often found doing all sorts of giving in and around our community. We caught notice when he and his office staff made the decision to feed all of the firemen in Shreveport. Once the idea was born, they called up a local station, asked how many people will be on duty on that Friday, and told them that lunch would be taken care of. The next day, he showed up with Johnny’s pizza in hand and knocked on the door. EASY AS THAT.

After visiting 4 total local stations so far, I had to ask Ben, “How do the guys react?” “You know, when first opening the door, the guys are sort of hesitant. These men are not used to receiving things like this. But once they realize we are just trying to provide a meal as a small thank you they open up really quickly…We chat for a bit and then they usually show us around the station.”

These “feeds” are perfect examples that good-hearted gestures can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and that anyone can do it. At its core, the idea was just a way to acknowledge the hard work that these first responders do for us and offer a small token of appreciation.

Sometimes it’s as simple as a pizza.

Originally from St. Simons Island, GA, Dr. Ben Kacos has set roots in Shreveport for about 8 years with his wife Marion, now 3 children Wilds, Elizabeth, and Bose. We can’t forget to mention their 3 dogs Lucy, Hattie, and Ryder either. He’s a dentist by trade but now you know that he is encouraging smiles in a few other ways too. Read below to learn a little more about him.
